LeAnn and the Clean Man

LeAnn and the Clean Man

LeAnn was easily my favorite character in the Bloodline series. Recently my publisher submitted LeAnn and the Clean man for the Benjamin Franklin Award. It didn’t win but this is from one of the three judges.

This book was a revelation. Wow! I love this contest because I am so lucky to get the chance to experience a diverse selection of writers, many of who I have never heard of. This is the case with Jeff Shaw and his LeAnn and the Clean Man.

I have never heard of this author nor read the first book in this series, but this was very good. The writing is crisp and cut to the bone. With a hero, is that the right word, that is intriguing and just plain bad ass. This reminds me of Orphan X by Gregg Hurwitz with the morally ambiguous lead character who starts to grow right before your eyes. The action is nonstop and the pages fly by. The mechanics and organization are all very good as well. The story has a strong beginning, interlude and ending. The Clarity was also good. The cover was just right for this book and the interior was easy to read and comfortable.

This was one of my favorite books to judge because it was such a surprise. – Benjamin Franklin Awards™ – Fiction: Mystery & Thriller
